St. Paul University Manila always conduct a celebration called ‘Buwan ng Wika‘ every year in the last week of the month of August. The celebration shows the different kinds of cultural activities in the country and highlights linguistic.
For this year celebration of ‘Buwan ng Wika’, the Department of Education (DepEd) through the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) released the memorandum containing the theme and poster. KWF leads the celebration with the theme “Filipino: Wika ng Saliksik” through the theme, KWF intends to propogate:
"The Filipino language in various fields of wisdom, especially in science and mathematics. "
Using this theme that was released, the freshmen in different courses prepared a dance to showcase the different cultural activities. The first one to performed was CBM or College of business management. They danced to the music of tagalog in kapampangan which showed the traditional dances in kampangpangan.

The second one to performed was CASE or college of arts and sciences and education, they performed a danced of ilocano in bicol

and the last one to performed was CMPA and CNAHS which stands for College of Music and the Performing Arts and College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. They danced a Waray in hiligaynon.

Besides dancing, the senior high students also presented their own masterpiece in Spoken Word Poetry. For the CBM, Mr. Joshua wan and de castro. For the CASE, Ms. Beverly and lagui and for the CMPA and CNAHS, Ms. Nathalie and Mr. Ronald John. All of their pieces were really good! I know for a fact that writing a poetry is not easy especially if you are going to present it to a big crowd. There is no competition happening but there is still an award for those people who performed well.
The award of best dance performance goes to CMPA and CNAHS

Their performance was astounding and they used all the props they could use for their dance. It’s not surprising if they were given an award but all of the dance performances in different colleges were excellent. After giving the awards, they had a mini picture taking because it was a success and all the hardworks of the freshmen paid off. I believe in doing this kind of celebration is also a way to send a message to all filipinos especially the young generation to continue using our own language because it shows our nationality and culture. Instead of always using the english language as the medium why not try using our own to promote not just our language but also our values as Filipinos!
